Substitute walnuts for pine nutsĀ  Go heavy on lemon and light on oil to start then adjust as needed.

In a blender or food processor, combine the ingredients below which makes about one pint of finished pesto.

For every two cups of basil leaves (washed, packed and overflowing cups) add:

1/2 cup parmesan cheese
1/2 walnuts
1/3 to 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil*
1/3 to 1/2 cup lemon juice*
2 or 3 cloves of garlic
1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Blend until smooth.

* Amount based on preferences.
